We offer laser treatment of varicose veins - endovenous laser ablation - EVLA  or endovenous laser treatment - EVLT .

Varicose Vein Treatment (Endovenous Ablation of Varicose Veins) is a minimally invasive treatment that uses laser energy to cauterize (burn) and close abnormally enlarged veins in the legs, a condition called varicose veins.

The treatment is performed under local anaesthesia.

Using ultrasound guidance the catheter is inserted through the skin into the vein and positioned within the abnormal vein. A laser fibre is then inserted through the catheter and advanced to the desired location. Laser energy is thus applied, heating the vessel and causing it to close.

The duration of treatment is usually 30-60 min. Following the procedure the Patient is under observation for a period of about 30 min and after applying compression measures (a gradient compression stocking or a special bandage) the Patient can leave the clinic.

USG-D is a necessary examination prior to all types of vein procedures, including endovascular methods.

The benefits of endovenous laser treatment:

Laser treatment of varicose veins has a lot of benefits when compared to classic surgery. The most important are:
no surgical incision nor stitching needed, therefore no sparring, only a small nick in the skin is necessary
less complications
lesser after treatment pain
quicker recovery and reestablishment of full level of activity
the procedure can be performed on ambulatory basis, therefore does not require long absence from work. This is important for professionally active persons, as in the result it comes out cheaper when compared to traditional surgery methods.

Indications for treatment are established after medical examination and USG-D (ultrasound examination).

Thanks to the cooperation with ESAOTE company, one of the leading producers of medical equipment in the world, AMEDS Centrum guarantees the Patients the highest level of diagnostics of lower limbs venous system. We use one of the best available devices for ultrasound diagnostics - – MyLab Twice. The advanced technology, fully digital ultrasound system and rich measuring software of this Doppler equipment guarantees a high sensitivity of examination and an unmatched applicability in the evaluation of many systems and organs. This complex and compact apparatus is module-based and is equipped with a large spectrum of heads (including high frequency head - 18 Mhz), which allows to achieve an excellent quality of imaging with the greatest precision in all circumstances.

MyLab Twice is a state-of-the-art ESAOTE equipment, the first of this type and parameters available in Poland.

Indications for treatment include:
Symptoms diminishing the comfort of life:
Lower limbs pain
Heaviness, tiredness of lower limbs, increasing especially in the evening
Restlessness
Night cramps
Itchiness
Idiopathic bleeding of varicose veins
Skin lesions resulting from chronic venous insufficiency (CVI):
Eczema, changes in skin pigmentation, telangiectasias and reticular veins and the so called ”corona phlebectasia” lesions
Lipodermatosclerosis (LDS)
White atrophy
Healed or active ulcerations
Oedema
History of superficial thrombophlebilitis (varicose veins)
Significant cosmetic reasons
Anatomical and pathophysiological lesions
Significant reflux documented by USG-D examination (reflux > 0.5 sec)
Reflux responsible for hypertension leading to clinical symptoms.

Contraindications to the procedure:
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Deep venous obstruction
Liver damage and allergy to anaesthetics
Severe blood coagulation disorders and hypercoagulability (thrombophilia)
Oral anticoagulant therapy (Warfarin, Acenocumarol, Sintrom)
Lower limbs ischemia which does not allow for the application of compression measures, allergy to compression materials, neurological disorders, as well as muscular and skeletal system disorders restricting the effect of compression products
Impossibility to move freely after the treatment
Deep venous insufficiency.
Thrombotic lesions or particularly severe venous tortuosity enabling the passage through the intravascular system.
